About
Elisabete Figueiredo (elisa@ua.pt), sociologist (ISCTE – IUL, 1989), PhD on Environmental Sciences (University of Aveiro (UAVR), 2003) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences (University of Aveiro).
She is full researcher at GOVCOPP– Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (UAVR) and associated researcher at CETRAD – Centre of Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal), and (between January 2010 and July 2011) associated Researcher at IBIMET – National Research Council, Italy, within the group on Rural Development and Cultural identity.
Since 2010, she is member of the Group of Experts of Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Planning, for support the debate on the Common Agricultural Policy and Rural Development beyond 2013.
Since 2010, she is Co-Coordinator of the Environment and Society Section of the Portuguese Association of Sociology. Since 2008 she is member of the Director’s Board of SPER – Portuguese Society for Rural Studies and, since 2007, member of the Consultants’ Council of ANIMAR –Portuguese Association for Local Development.
She is also a member of the ESRS – European Society for Rural Sociology and APDR – Portuguese Association of Regional Studies.
She is on the editorial boards of Portuguese journals: ‘A Vez e a Voz’ and ‘Tourism &Development’, as well as of International journals: ‘Journal of European Countryside’ and ‘AGER – Revista de Estudios de Despoblación y Desarrollo Rural’and reviewer for several journals and scientific conferences.
She is involved in several European and national funded research projects, mainly dealing with rural development, rural tourism and social perceptions on environmental risks (her main research interests).
She is author or co-author of more than 100 publications and presentations, published in books, journals and conference proceedings (at international and national level).
Her main teaching subjects are Social Sciences Research Methodologies and Techniques, Social Exclusion and Public Policies, Risk Theories, Social Perceptions of Risk, Environmental Sociology, Rural and Nature Tourism.
She is from Lisbon and lives in Aveiro since 1990. She likes cinema, literature, poetry, jazz and travel.
